How to Start and Run a Successful Subscription Box Company eBook Katherine Raz Laurie Stark Sravan Kumar Reviews
This is an extraordinary book packed with information about how to start and then maintain not only a subscription box company but also any small retail endeavor. It takes the prospective entrepreneur from realistically evaluating and developing a start-up idea through the practicalities of marketing, packing and shipping product, researching and evaluating competitors, and financial considerations - start-up costs, income projections, and fund-raising. Most of the content is decidedly practical. The authors do not simply suggest that you consider launching a landing page. They give specific information about HOW to launch a landing page. They give specific and detailed information on how to claim your idea and set up a domain name. Every chapter is packed with useful information. There are numerous ideas and suggestions from others in the business - not only those who have been successful but also some who have failed and who offer pertinent suggestions on how to avoid specific pitfalls.
If you have an idea of getting into the subscription box business, or even if you are already in the business, do yourself a favor and read this book. You WILL learn something. I guarantee it.
Very helpful book.
I bought this book a few months ago and have read it numerous times. It is thoroughly researched and concisely written. Practical, instructional and inspirational-all rolled into one beautifully written book. Highly recommended!!!
Extremely clear and engaging explanation about the nuts and bolts of subscription box companies. I'm not looking to be in the business of starting such a thing, but from a "here's how things work", the book was filled with a ton of facts, instructions, and advice from successful entrepreneurs in this space.
I downloaded a couple of subscription box business guides from and this is the very best guide by far. This book covers all aspects of the business in enough detail for it to make sense. Thank you to Katherine Raz and Laurie Stark for taking the time and effort to write a comprehensive guide on this business model!
Book gave a lot of examples on marketing but not on distribution. I would have liked more detail on using third parties to pack and ship. Along with costs and providers. Only one vendor was listed but in all other chapters the author provided multiple potential vendors. Shipping and packaging is a key to the business but was thinly covered.
This book is an excellent read for anyone wanting to start a business - obviously, it's specifically tailored for subscription box businesses, but many of the tips and considerations outlined in this book can be applied to any business. There are plenty of quotes from people who are currently running subscription box businesses, and many examples of different subscription box models that already exist. The fact that the writing is clear, easy to read, and typo-free is just a bonus. Would recommend!
Thank you. This was exactly what I was looking for in terms of content and knowledge. Your appendix of Resources with links was the cherry on top. Highly recommend.
